As we walked around the store, I couldn't help but notice a recurring character, a fat security guard. Everywhere I went, I saw him. It was weird seeing him, but I figured it was his job and didn't think much of it, until I saw that he was mostly staring at Mom, ogling, and leering. He was wearing his security guard uniform, except it didn't look very professional. It was all wrinkled with old and new ketchup and mustard stains on his belly. His shirt was tucked in but unbuttoned to his gut, exposing a yellowed wife-beater underneath, along with greyed, curly chest hair. He was balding, with grey hair and a huge gut. Mom even commented on him, "You'd think he of all people should be wearing a mask." Not only was he mask-less, but he kept getting close to people. "He's putting himself and others in danger," Mom added. I felt a bit angry, seeing him perv on her, but I did wish she had worn something less flimsy. The security guard wasn't the only guy looking, just the most annoying. Mom's long, dirty-blonde hair and blue eyes were constant attention stealers. Even with a mask on, her pretty eyes would let you know she was flashing a polite grin. BEEP! Mom and I instinctively stopped when we heard the security detector go off. Then, speaking loudly enough for Mom to hear, he added, "I'm sorry, but I'm gonna have to check your cart, and your receipt." "Of course! I suppose the cashier forgot to remove the tags from something," Mom kindly handed the rent-a-cop the receipt. I read his name tag, his name was Paul. He held up the receipt and got uncomfortably close to Mom. "Where are you going? Thinking of running off?" He asked, when Mom backed away about six feet. "No, it's just that... Shouldn't you be wearing a mask?" Mom questioned him. "No, I don't believe in that shit," He blurted out. "Besides, I know I'm not sick." "Um, alright then." Mom looked at me and shrugged her shoulders. "Ahem! Hemmm," Paul coughed into his fist. "I'll just quickly go over your receipt, ma'am. Make sure everything is accounted for." Mom looked nervously at him. I also felt uneasy about him, I didn't want to get sick! "I'm sure it's nothing, but 'corporate' insists I waste everyone's time." Paul motioned for us to move a few steps away from the door, so other customers could walk through. He had the receipt in his meaty left claw and dug through our newly purchased stuff with his equally fat right hand. I looked at Mom and gave her a sigh; she responded with a shrug. Paul was taking forever to check our crap. He put his glasses on and stretched his arm out as far as he could. Only after holding the receipt up to the light was he able to read each line. Then he would pop his glass on top of his head, search for the item he had just read off the paper, take it out of the bag, verify it, then set it aside with the other checked items, on a table next to the door. Line by line, he did the same thing. He started with the groceries and slowly made his way through the list, which contained over a hundred things! He counted each individual item, repeatedly; every single last one. He even said each item out loud to himself as he inspected it. He was loud enough for everyone nearby to hear. At first I was impatient, watching him check items off, then I started clenching my fist when he took out one of Mom's bras, holding it up for all to see. Loudly, he proclaimed, "A thirty six, TRIPLE D BRA. Beige colored... nice, and check." He then set the bra, laid out, on the table, for everyone to see.
